In February 2010, Dan Cloutier of Birch Beer Records started the Facebook group “I Support Local Music in Massachusetts.”
The sole purpose of this group was to help local musicians get more shows, more radio play, and more media exposure. And the response has been overwhelming – so we also created a Facebook Fan Page to get the word out about important announcements more effectively.
Soon after that, Kim Jennings of Birch Beer Records saw the need to get organized. There’s a lot more going on here than just a few people advertising a few shows during the upcoming weekend. We want to pull it all together, helping local musicians, venues, fans, connect with each other.
Birch Beer Records is proud to have founded this group, but we want everyone to know that this group is much bigger than us. We’re based in Massachusetts, but we know that all local musicians need help. We want to be at the front of that mission, and we want to hear from you while we’re doing it.
